Top 10 Notting Hill Carnival Anthems for 2017

Notting Hill Carnival

It’s that time of the year where we run down our Top 10 Notting Hill Carnival Anthems. Not all of these are fresh for 2017 but they are all Legit Anthems. Bangers that are aging like fine wines and get better with every wheel up.

If these tracks don’t get you doing the one finger skank at Carnival this year then you must be dead inside.

Kicking off the proceedings we have the Big Man of the game Big Narstie with Show N Prove collaboration anthem “Gas Pipe”.

Big Narstie & Show N Prove – “Gas Pipe”
Rollin over a Heavy Dubstep beat from Show N Prove, Big Narstie wastes no time dropping Hook after hook, Burst the pipe!

As a follow up we have to go back to Stormzy’s first big single from March 2015 “Know me from”

Stormzy – Know Me From
Flowing over a classic Z Dot beat, Stormzy drops call backs to his previous performance at Red Bull Culture Clash. “Know me from” is Stormzy at his rawest deliver aside from “Shut Up” and he pays homage to the likes of Wiley with a couple of shout outs he also one of the first MC’s to put his mum front and centre in his video.

Another MC who is handy at whippin’ up an anthem is Kano, and if you don’t here a Kano track being reloaded at Notting Hill Carnival, then the DJ doesn’t know what he is doing.

Kano feat. Giggs – 3 Wheel Ups
Released off his “Made in the Manor” album, Kano delivers a bouncy as hell banger. Chock full of Kano anthemic hooks and hypes you up where you are ready to “Gwan Like Direct Rudeboy!”.  “3 Wheel ups” is a bashy anthem perfect for the Carnival skank well deserving of more than 3 Wheel Ups.

Bugzy Malone – Through The Night (Feat. DJ Luck and MC Neat)
Already a classic carnival anthem for years, Bugzy Malone injects a new lease of life into this remake of classic UKG anthem by DJ Luck and MC Neat. An ingenious move by Bugzy bringing back the garage vibes with garage legends.

Toddla T – Magnet (Official Video) ft. Andrea Martin
Toddla T has been making Carnival Jams for years and this year he teams up with Andrea Martin who delivers a rich vocal over this sexy Samba Riddim. This a perfect track for a chilled ou skank after two two jerk chicken and some salt fish dumplings.

J Hus – Spirit
Bringing the African Spirit to the Carnival vibes we can’t leave out J Hus who has just released the single “Spirit” off his new album “Common Sense”. This track is out just in time to be on regular rotation at every Notting Hill Carnival Soundsystem this summer.

Giggs – Lock Doh feat. Donae’o
Giggs never fails to turn a party up, and “Lock Doh” his 2016 collaboration with Donae’o off his album “The Landlord” is one of the anthems of 2016 the riddim is so killer it never fails to Shutdown an event. Donae’os wild animalistic ad libs alone are enough to get a party hyped.

Chase & Status ft Giggs – More Ratatatin
Heavy weight skanking, Will and Saul of Chase & Status are masters of the big room anthem and Giggs is no stranger to big tunes either. This is a dream link up and is a guaranteed gun finger skank all the way down Portobello road.

Lethal Bizzle Fester Skank Remix ft. Stormzy, Chip, Fuse ODG & Wretch 32
Another artist with his finger on the anthem button is Lethal Bizzle from “Oi” with Fire Camp to “Pow” to “Rari Workout” Lethal the Bizzle has always delivered. “Fester Skank” is a certified banger and guarantees to smash Carnival every time.

Skepta – Shutdown
Final BBK’s frontman Skepta shut up shop 2 years ago with “Shutdown” this track has already beenelevated into the ranks of Notting Hill Carnival Anthems since its inception, and I don’t think it’s going anywhere soon. If this doesn’t send carnival into a rampage as usual then I will eat my crepes.
